Good news for Selle Italia on the team front. It’s now official that from next season the company will work even more closely with a prestigious leader on the national and international cycling scene.
The Treviso-based company has just signed a sponsorship deal with the Wilier professional cycling team, which will incorporate Selle Italia into its official name.
Keeping up the brand’s historic profile will be the team headed by Angelo Citracca, with such renowned rouleurs as Jakub Mareczko and Filippo Pozzato in the front ranks.

“We decided to pair up with Wilier because of our strong friendship with the Gastaldello family”, explains Riccardo Bigolin, vice Chair of the company. A friendship that began with Marco Pantani (in 1997 Selle Italia patented the “Pirata” logo and name) and has continued over the years.”

The newly-forged Wilier-Selle Italia team is committed to contesting the most important races for next season, beginning with the 100th Giro d’Italia on Friday, 5 May 2017 in Sardinia, with a first stage of 203 kilometres from Alghero to Olbia.

Selle Italia thus adds another entry to its roll-call of partnerships: from WorldTour (Katusha and Lotto-Soudal) to ten professional teams (CCC Sprandi, Androni, Stolting, Roth, Fortuneo, Novo-Nordisk, Nippo, Roompot, Gazprom and Wilier). Another high-value development – further proof of an innate mission to work exclusively with excellence in the world of cycling.
